“In the simplicity of flowers, find a relection of life’s fleeting beauty.”
Peonies, as beautiful as they are, the bloom time is much too short. Sometimes a hard rain or wind comes and scatters the petals, just when they are at their peak.
Did you know that you can extend that bloom time? Just cut the stems off the bush while the flowers are still in a tight ball. Then wrap the stems in plastic and some newspaper, then gently tuck them in the bottom of the refrigerator. They will last for a few weeks or even a month. When you are ready to enjoy the blooms, bring the peonies out of the refrigerator, cut an inch off of each stem and place them in a vase of water. Be sure to change the water daily and soon, these beautiful flowers will open.
