At Signal Hill E. S. in the art room we started the year off in art by creating a collaborative art project based on the book, You Be You by Linda Kranz. (Original art lesson from the wonderful Cassie Stephens at https://cassiestephens.blogspot.com/2016/08/in-art-room-you-be-you-collaborative.html) This book is a great way to start talking to students about the Leader in Me program we are initiating at Signal Hill Elementary School.

in the book,  Adri, the rockfish, sets out to explore the ocean and he quickly discovers that there are all kinds of fish in the deep blue sea—big and tiny, smooth and spiny, colorful and plain, different and the same. He learns that each fish are unique and bring their own special talents along with the importance of being yourself. As student leaders, we can share our talents and unique abilities.

These young artists, from kindergarten through 5th grade, enjoyed creating their own unique fish with creative flair!
