This ribbon cutting will be particularly special, as the City of Manassas Arts Committee will also host a pop-up art show to celebrate the rich history and beauty of this historic property. The art show will feature a diverse group of artists, offering a sneak preview of the larger Art at Annaburg show scheduled for Spring 2025.

To coincide with ARTfactory’s annual Factory of Fear event and fundraiser, the Caton Merchant Gallery presents a group art exhibition titled “Factory of Fear”. This juried group exhibit features 61 artists. Artwork mediums range from paintings, digital art, photography, sculpture & more. Artists were asked to think outside the box in terms of typical Halloween iconography, and were encouraged to submit dark landscapes, surrealistic imagery, the ethereal, abstraction, and overall, works that emanate a “darker” aesthetic or vibe.
Artist Reception: October 12, 6 pm-8 pm

My selection: 4 the love of . . . impressionism!
I have always admired the Impressionists and how these artists (Monet, Renoir, Degas, Pissaro, Cassatt and Morisot) captured the fleeting essence of light, the use of more open and colorful shadows, warm and cool colors and scumbling (dragging one color over another) in their paintings. This style of art elevated everyday moments in a loose painterly way. This was a different way of painting for me and it was fun to try something new!

The Art of the Piedmont has been raising financial support for Middleburg Montessori School for 12 years. The Auction Reception will feature works of fine art by a talented, professional group of local artists, and the proceeds will be divided evenly between the Middleburg Montessori School and the artists, thus supporting both the school’s nonprofit mission and the local art community. In keeping with years past Covid friendly platform we will once again offer a week-long virtual auction via Better World for eager bidders and “out of towners” or those who are unable to attend in person. Early bidding will be a week long event virtually beginning Friday March 8, 2024 and continuing into our in person Gallery, Friday March 15, 2024, 6:00-8:00 PM.
